Our studio.
Our story
ST Pictures was founded in Lilongwe in 2016 with a single conviction: that the best photographs are made with patience, not equipment. We started shooting weddings and portraits for friends. Nine years later, the approach has not changed, even if the work has grown.
We added short film and motion work in 2020. It felt like a natural extension — the same attention to light and timing, just extended through time. We have since made films for individuals, brands and cultural organisations across southern Africa.
We keep our client list small on purpose. Every project we take on gets the same level of care — a level we cannot maintain if we take on everything.
How we work
Observation over direction
We rarely ask people to pose. The best images come when people forget there is a camera.
Restraint in editing
We deliver less than most studios. Fewer images, but every one is a considered choice.
Honest colour
No heavy presets. We grade each project to the light it was actually made in.
Long relationships
Most of our clients return. That matters more to us than any single booking.
Principal photographer
S. Tembo
Based in Lilongwe. Shooting since 2014. Started documenting community events, moved into portraiture, then weddings, then short film. Each format taught something the last one could not.
Available for projects across Malawi and regionally. Will travel for work that matters.
